Description
World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope that gathers young people from all over the world. It is a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, an expression of the universal Church and an intense moment of evangelization for many young adults.
With young people as its protagonist, World Youth Day also seeks to promote peace, unity and fraternity among peoples and nations around the world. This year's World Youth Day will take place in Lisbon, Portugal and 11 Loyola students will be attending.
In addition to World Youth Day, students will be attending MAGIS, the Jesuit gathering prior to WYD where the Ignatian Family comes together from all over world. These days are filled with experiences that celebrate faith and service in a space of sharing and prayer.
What gift supports
Your tax-deductable gift will support student travel expenses, insurance, and registration for World Youth Day.
Why are donations necessary?
World Youth Day is an opportunity for Loyola students to personally experience the universality of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church. It's a unique way to deepen their faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments, together with hundreds of thousands of other young people who share their interests and ambitions.
At MAGIS, their missionary spaces will provide students the experience of connecting with the local parishioners in Portugal and Spain. Each pilgrimage experience accentuates a particular dimension of each person's unique relationship with God.
Your support will make this amazing experience possible for the students attending.
